Gandalf Robot Reveal
We created a robot reveal for all of the cool features that Gandalf the Rev has.
Gandalf was our robot for the 2016-17 Velocity Vortex season. Gandalf could push both beacons, shoot THREE particles and park on either the corner or the center during autonomous. During tele-op, Gandalf can score between 10-17 particles in the center vortex, cap the center vortex in end game and press beacon buttons in less than 10 seconds. Gandalf featured a mecanum drive train to allow us to move in all directions and quickly sweep up particles using the surgical tubing sweeper. Gandalf uses a 1 wheel flywheel to shoot particles into the center vortex. LED feedback tells the driver when the shooter is up to speed. Our drawer slide lift allows us to quickly and smoothly lift up the cap ball in under 15 seconds, and this mechanism features an innovative clamping system using surgical tubing and 3D printed grippers to hold on to the cap ball.
