At this event we brought our FTC mat and two Ev3 robots, and informed as many people about FLL and Jr.FLL as we could. We also let the kids play with the robots and had fliers with information on them for the parents.
Our main goal for this event was to inform as many people as we could about FLL. We wanted to get both kids and parents interested. We also wanted to tell people about our trainings so the rookie teams could learn about the basics of FLL.

At the TPES School Picnic, we had a table where we talked to parents about FIRST and FLL Jr. We also had an area where we put our robot Merlin and the FLL robot. We showed the children who came how to drive the robots. We used an app on Sarthak’s tablet that allowed kids to drive around the FLL robot. This was the first outreach event where we put the FLL and FTC robot in the same area, and it seemed to work out well. At the table, Sarthak and Jyotsna were talking to parents about the FIRST programs. On August Second, our team went to National Night out at the College Gardens Park. We brought material from FIRST Lego League Jr, FIRST Lego League and the FIRST Tech Challenge. This event was a huge success. Many children from the community were engaged in our robots and had lots of fun driving them and building legos. Through this event we were able to meet many parents who are interested in starting either a FIRST Lego League Jr. team or FIRST Lego League team. We will follow up with these parents and give them training on how they can become coaches and start a team in our community. |
