On the 24th of July, three members of our team went to Podcast Village and participated in our first podcast, where we discussed our team, the robotics industry and how it has evolved in the past ten years. By doing so, we were able to promote FIRST and advocate the benefits of joining STEM programs such as FIRST Robotics. We talked about the experience of the World Championship the past season and what we hope to gain/learn this coming season. Following the podcast, Wizards.exe and Podcast Village talked about making this a regular session/show, either following events and competitions or biweekly, even potentially broadening it out to include other FTC teams in the area.

After going to the World Championship, our team met with our congressmen to lobby for the passage of bill 581, to work on Dean’s homework. The bill commissioned a commemorative coin Christa McAuliffe, the teacher who died in the Challenger accident. All the proceeds from the coin go to fund FIRST. We were not only successful in getting Congressman Van Hollen to support the bill, but to co-sponsor it.
